...Angelique, [you] helped me so much! Had it not been for you, I would have found it much more difficult to do what is right for me. Your strength, ability to see things clearly [and] with solid rationality and the confidence you ignited in me was godsend! You gave me skills that I could use and as a result, I do feel as if I am a 100% healthier person because I know "me" better as a result of your superb counsel. Thank you!! You are life changing! ...You truly are your namesake -- an Angel!

From the moment I met Angelique, I was instantly drawn to her authenticity, care, and compassion. After careful listening and engagement, Angelique dips into her deep well of wisdom and gives welcome guidance in whatever situation. Her questions lead to a self-examination that always forces a pen in my hand to take copious notes to capture her emotional and spiritual erudition. Angelique was assigned to me as a mentor as part of the Commission for Women program at Penn State for new faculty. It is an understatement to say that I cannot imagine having gone through the trying but fruitful experience of tenure without her. She helped me identify goals, navigate intricate pathways to achieve those goals, and to this day we have shared a number of successful achievements due to her collaborative approach. She tends to be one of my first phone calls even today to process, strategize, or envision. She is empowering, committed, and clever. Her professionalism rises to the top even as we connect as women and friends. Her vision, inquiry, and motivation are inspiring. Get ready to find clarity and fuel for your own vision and at your own pace with Angelique. This is a ringing endorsement for her elevated skills and dedication as a Life Coach.

I met Angelique twenty years ago when she and I were working across the hall from one another at Penn State - University Park. She became a trusted friend and colleague, someone I still turn to today for career, life coaching and mentoring consultations. You can count on her to give practical recommendations tailored to your specific situation and she is unique in that she is fully present and in the moment with you. She lives what she teaches as she shows discipline with her health, sleep, spirituality, nutrition and takes time for self-care and nurturing her relationships with family and friends. … Her insight to come up with creative ideas and solutions to challenging problems is refreshing. Her ability to think creatively and strategically is a rare gift in a time when most people are challenged in planning further a month out or staying focused. Her strength to anticipate the future and clearly see obstacles and opportunities are what makes her successful in her life and her career. I intentionally maintain my relationship with Angelique because of her unique capacity to empathize and give her best to me. Her genuine care for others, intelligence, grace and ability to see situations with clarity are key in her role as a Life Coach. She has my highest recommendation as a Life Coach.

I first met Dr. Angelique Bacon-Woodard as an undergraduate student nearly a decade ago where we developed a formalized mentor relationship. It is now nearly a decade later and I still use the skills and strategies she has helped me cultivate. With her support and guidance, I learned how to strategize and seize opportunities with tools including time management, goal setting, and reflection. She has taught me how to create advanced reward feedback systems to balance work and pleasure for intentional progression with longevity. I have now earned my doctorate degree directly from undergraduate studies and find myself continuing to incorporate the approaches she has shared with me throughout the years as I embark on this next chapter on the journey. Dr. Angelique Bacon-Woodard’s natural zest and kindness augment her talent as a life coach. With her keen vision and attentive listening, she helps to empower all those whom she encounters with ease and grace. I highly recommend her as a resource to help anyone looking to achieve their dreams!

... I have known Angelique for [many] years and during this time I have witnessed her unrelenting and giving spirit that has been a source of uplift and inspiration for many including myself. During my time of knowing Angelique, she has always been willing and able to offer her professional, personal and scholarly take on any issue I have brought to her. ... She has provided keen insight into how I can improve myself professionally, personally and academically. I have met very few individuals who have been as generous and as gracious with their time and knowledge. Angelique always seeks to lift others.... I did not truly understand the impact of Angelique on others until I had several conversations with colleagues and mutual friends. It became clear to me that they too had experienced the same privileged relationship I had with Angelique. ... [A] true leader and mentor goes beyond formal expectations. I did not sign up to become Angelique's mentee. But since I have known her, she has made me important to her. A true friend gives you confidence and courage to pursue your aspirations. Angelique has done that for me as well as many others. [Angelique should be] ...recognized for mentoring by advising, facilitating, encouraging and/or paving the for others to recognize and realize their potential in both personal and professional endeavors. This speaks truly to her and her genuine character....

I met Angelique 10 years ago while I was still a timid Freshman at Penn State University. Since then, Angelique has been first a great supervisor, and later a much-trusted mentor and friend as I navigated through college years and later into my professional career. As my first teaching job's supervisor, Angelique provided unconditional support through her advice and guidance. A great, attentive listener, Angelique always understood my concerns and issues quickly and then provided ways to improve and ultimately get better. Her analytical skills and the way she treats people with the same kindness and dignity earned my trust quickly. As our professional relationship grew stronger, I started to find myself opening up to her and seeking guidance on personal development and social matters as well. With her continued mentorship over 4 years of college, I was able to land a top job in New York City. Over the last few years, as I navigated my early career in an overly competitive field, I find myself talking and meeting with Angelique often. As a mentor and a friend, she has been generous with her time and provided me with incredible support to think through ways to improve at a competitive job field, move to a new job overseas, and eventually pivot my career into something that I am truly passionate about. Angelique has provided directions in my professional career as well as much needed support when I have doubts about what I am pursuing. With her help, I grew from a timid international student to a leader in the business world. Over the past 10 years, whether I am in a critical situation, at a cross-path, or simply stuck in a rut, I often find myself getting advice from Angelique. I have no doubt Angelique will be a great coach to you and give you fresh perspectives just as she has done with me. Give Angelique a try, you will not regret it!

Angelique [is] a very humbling and nurturing person. No matter how big or small your life challenges, goals, and achievements are, she will always listen intently to your ideas and thoughts before she gives her opinions. She is the first person who introduced me into the idea of servant leadership. She will share with you her own life experience as a leader, so that you learn what to do or not to do as a leader. I would not be who I am today if it was not because of her coaching and mentorship throughout my 5 years in college and beyond. I am glad to have her as my mentor and life coach. With her guidance, I grew from a naïve, and immature freshman into a better leader, gentleman, and a professional.

During my time at Penn State University, Angelique became my mentor. She devoted hours of observation, professional development, and training into crafting me into a stronger leader. Even when providing critique, Angelique was supportive and encouraging, making me feel like we were having a friendly conversation. She empowered me to be creative in my work. Angelique also gave me opportunities to advance by trusting me to lead development workshops for my peers. She recognizes different learning styles and different avenues to advance in various fields. Even a couple years later, I know I can reach out to Angelique to help provide clarity and guidance.

Follow-up text messages after coaching sessions:
Hi, Angelique. …Thank you for the book recommendations. I believe that I might know why I’m crying so much at night. I think that I’m grieving the loss of the husband I wanted to believe that I had. Last night there were no tears and I feel refreshed. Still lots of progress to make. …Things are progressing carefully and I’m learning a lot along the way. I am grateful to have you thinking of me. …I greatly appreciate your positive and supportive words. I cannot express all the thanks in my heart. Transition…You are so right. I need to be patient with myself. It’s not going to happen overnight. …I greatly appreciate your words of encouragement…

... I had the opportunity to work with Angelique on a proposal that would bring Saudi Arabia students to State College for one year of training prior to entering into Penn State. We were awarded the proposal and I think this was largely tribute to Angelique's professionalism and obvious care for the success of the students to ensure the program matrix were of a high quality that would offer them entrance to Penn State. My interaction with internationals was limited and I highly respected her opinion and her ability to interact with the students with ease. I don't think that she knew it, but at this point she became a mentor to me. ... I was able to learn from her on how to make the students feel comfortable enough to laugh and share personal feelings with us. ... Coming from a business world and dealing mostly with adults this was a very valuable lesson for me. Her connections and friendships reach the far ends of our University. ... I had a call from someone in a very high up position and she started the conversation with "We have a mutual friend" and thirty minutes later we were still singing Angelique's praises. She has mentored many people already and hopefully many more to come.
